The Gift of Giving

27 Nov

This may sound strange in a world where wealth is almost worshiped, but I love giving my money away.

I get a kick out of knowing I made a difference in someone’s life. I love seeing someone’s face light up when they open that envelope and how they look around, wondering, “Where did this come from?” The high I get from that is better than anything a drug could offer.

The Bible says, “God loves a cheerful giver.” 2 Corinthians 9:7 NIV. I’ve found that is true. I never feel closer to God than when I’m doing something for one of His children.

The crazy thing is, no matter how much Ana and I have given through the years, we’ve never lacked for anything ourselves. In fact, it seems that the more we give the more we have. By that I don’t necessarily mean we have a lot of extra cash, but we’re rich in the things which really matter – love, health, friends, and family.

I’ve discovered the truth of the promise in 2 Corinthians 9:6 and 8 that, “the one who plants generously will get a generous crop…And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.” (NLT)

Do you want to have some fun? Do you want to make God smile and bring a smile to someone else’s face? Yes? Then pull out your checkbook or get online and make a difference in another person’s life right now!

Today is #GivingTuesday. Do yourself a favor. Take some of your savings from Black Friday and CyberMonday and give yourself a special gift – the Gift of Giving!

God Bless and Happy Giving!

BTW – There are lots of great charities out there, but one I especially love is charity: water. A drink of clean water is something most of us take for granted, but in developing countries 1 in 10 people lack access to clean water and charity: water is on a mission to change that. 100% of your donations go to bring clean water to people in need. If you’d like to help to go to www.charity.water.org and give today. Thank you!
